Terms of use

These terms govern the use of Shironuki (operated by Shige Mizuno, "we", "the service"). By using the service you accept them.

1. The service

Shironuki removes the background from product photos you upload and delivers a transparent PNG and a white-background JPEG in your browser. Without signing up, you may process up to 100 photos per calendar month (Japan Standard Time, per browser) free of charge. The paid plans ($4.99 and $7.99 per month, both in preparation) and their prices are described in the legal notice.

2. Your photos

How uploaded photos are handled (never stored, never used for AI training, who processes them) is set out in the privacy policy.

3. Rights and permitted use

• You keep every right to the photos you upload and to the images the service produces. We claim no rights in the output.
• You may use the output freely, including commercially, for example in marketplace listings.
• The service's software, design and name remain ours.

4. Prohibited use

You must not:

• upload images you have no right to use, images that are unlawful, or images that infringe someone else's copyright, likeness or other rights. It is your responsibility to make sure you hold the necessary rights;
• circumvent the free allowance, for example by clearing cookies, changing your connection or spreading use across browsers;
• send images to the service by any means other than a browser, such as a program or script (API access becomes available with the paid plans, under their conditions);
• place excessive load on the service, analyse or tamper with how it works, or interfere with other users;
• use the service for any purpose that is unlawful or against public order.

5. Restriction of use

If we find, or reasonably suspect, a breach of section 4, we may restrict or stop your use without notice. We are not liable for any loss this causes you.

6. The result

Background removal is automatic. On some photos part of the product may be cut away or part of the background may remain, and we do not guarantee the result on any particular photo. Check the output yourself before using it in a listing. A photo that fails to process is not counted against the free allowance and can be retried.

7. Changes, interruption and termination of the service

• We may change the service or the conditions of the free allowance, and may interrupt the service temporarily for maintenance, because of a fault, or because of our processors.
• If we end the service we will announce it in advance on the tool's page. Any unexpired paid period is handled as set out in the legal notice and by law.

8. No warranty and limitation of liability

• The service is provided as is. We make no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, of uninterrupted or error-free operation, or of the quality of the result.
• Except where we act intentionally or with gross negligence, our liability for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service is limited to the fees you paid to the service in the month the loss occurred. For free use we are not liable except where the law does not allow liability to be excluded.
• If you are a consumer under Japan's Consumer Contract Act, this section applies only to the extent that Act permits.

9. Governing law and court

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Nagoya District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance over any dispute relating to the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when needed. The changed terms take effect when they are published on this page with a new date at the top. Using the service after a change means you accept the changed terms.
